I know Dennis already posted about this radio station within the last couple of weeks, but to me, it's gotten even better. They have moved away from the TV themes and into a genre that I grew up listening to. It's like they hit the shuffle button on my iPod and started playing it on air, commercial free and all. It's fantastic. It seems that they have some favorites (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band) but they play a wide variety of 90's alternative rock as well as some stuff from today. And not only do they play the popular stuff from bands, they play a lot of my favorites that never made it on air from artists like Sublime and Jimmy Eat World.
I really, really hope that this is the format they stick with.

I got a speeding ticket this morning on my way out to run some errands, including picking up donuts. Those are the most expensive, yet delicious, donuts I've ever had. Sucks. But yummy. |

| | happy | ] | Bri and I went to the Reds game last night, and because we were celebrating our anniversary (yes, a couple weeks early but it was the best time considering our schedules) we got some fairly pricey seats. We were in section 124, row H. They sit directly behind home plate, just underneath the level above. I would love to have these seats as season tickets. You're protected from rain, you get your own personal waitstaff, private concessions and restrooms, cushioned seats, and there were 2 foul balls within 15 feet of us last night alone! The tickets also granted us access to Club 4192, which is the posh hangout for all the rich people that go to Reds games. We didn't spend a lot of time there, but it was very nice with 2 large bars that served what appeared to be just about any alcoholic beverage you could want as well as specialized food that you can't get anywhere else in the park. Very nice.
Oh, and I forgot to mention that the Reds won! Griffey and Hamilton each hit a homerun and Votto and Encarnacion each had a fantastic game offensively and defensively. I think that it was the second win that we saw this year, making them 2-2 in games attended. A much better record that the 1-10 from a couple years ago, but I wish we could have made it down for more games. However, we can't really justify spending $75 (minimum) each time we feel like going to a game.
Oh well, at least we saw a win in what is likely our final game seen in Cincy this year. Bri will get to see them in Chicago in a couple weeks with her Dad, but I can't go. I'm slightly jealous, but I would go if I had the chance, so I hope she has a great time.
However, an idea popped into my head awhile ago. I'm going to try to convince Bri that we need to go to Spring Training next year. I don't know much about how it works, but it sounds incredibly fun and I don't see why we couldn't have a good time down there. |

| Arby's Popcorn Chicken Shakers |
[Jul. 29th, 2007|10:23 pm] |
|
I don't know if you've seen the commercials with Matt Kenseth driving the Arby's NASCAR vehicle and shaking the cup of "chicken shakers," but seeing it the other day took me immediately back to my freshman year at Ohio State.
I had gotten the 10-meal plan, which meant I was able to eat at any of the Commons or Buckeye Express 10 times per week. If I chose to eat at the commons, which was rare, it was an all-you-can-eat semi-buffet. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't that great, either. Buckeye Express, however, was a fantastic little shop that offered sandwiches, fruit, yogurt, and various other take-out style foods. One such item was a cup of chicken greatly resembling the new Arby's stuff. It wasn't that good, which makes me a little skeptical of Arby's. Seems to me a restaurant that specializes in something (i.e. roast beef) should stick to what they're good at.
Something else cool about the express was the 7-item limit. Turns out that 7 items is a ton of food, especially when heading over with my 3 roommates. As long as you were at 7 items or less, they didn't care what you got. We would sometimes come home with 28 bags of potato chips, or a bunch of yogurt, or enough ice cream stuff to fill our micro-fridge. About the only thing we really had to leave campus to buy food-wise was Mt. Dew. Those were some good times. I really kinda miss those days. Except for the school part, that is. |

| Move |
[Apr. 14th, 2007|08:55 pm] |
We accomplished our move today. That is, everything we own is now at the condo. Our garage is still full of our crap that we don't know what we're going to do with, but we need to do something with it soon so that I have a spot for my car again. It really stinks walking 150 feet in the rain when you know full well that you should be parking under cover and only have 15 feet to walk to the door.
Anyway, thanks to all that helped. I didn't think that we had that much stuff, but we would still be hauling it if you hadn't been here.
I'm starting to feel that lazy comfort of being done with things, and I really need to get over that fast. I have 15 days to clean and paint pretty much the whole apartment before we turn in the keys. It won't be hard once I get myself motivated, but getting to that point before April 30 may be a little difficult. So, wish me luck with that.

| Lousy Smarch weather... |
[Apr. 12th, 2007|04:23 pm] |
So, Smarch does exist, crappy weather and all.
I love my job. I do. But when I have to work outside in weather such as today's, it makes me begin to wonder what I was thinking. I guess it's motivation to do the best I can so that I can become a Superintendent at my own course and not have to go out if I don't want to.
Man, is it ugly outside. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. |

| Condo |
[Mar. 29th, 2007|05:29 pm] |
So, we just got finished closing on our condo. We're very excited about it, although I am not as much as Bri. That's true for a couple of reasons, one being that I don't think anybody can be as excited as Bri about things when she's really excited, the other being that I am seeing all the work that needs to take place, including painting and moving.
Anyway, just thought I would put up a note. If I didn't at least post important stuff on here, why have it at all? |

| Ted FM |
[Jan. 18th, 2007|06:52 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | disappointed | ] | Has anyone else noticed that Ted FM is no longer a fantastic radio station? It went from "playing everything" to "Columbus' only talk FM" sometime in the last 2 weeks. I'm a little sad by this, because now I only have 4 stations that I really like on my dial and a fifth that I had programmed solely for Christmas music and haven't deleted yet. Those are (in order on the dial, with Ted being deleted from the 3 position): 99.7 the blitz, 101.1 cd 101, 97.1 mix 97.1, 97.9 wnci, and 94.7 sunny 95 (I can feel the shame stares already.) I can put an oldies station on there (B 107.9), but that still leaves me with one station open on FM1, not to mention FM2 and FM3.
It makes me feel like Columbus doesn't have nearly the cool radio stations that I used to think it had. If I liked country, then I would be able to fill a whole FM set, but alas, I hear enough of that at work. There is another rock station, 107.1 the big wazoo, but I'm not really a fan of any new/newer "rock" music, and it seems that they play a good deal of that.
Due to safety concerns in the apartment complex, I don't leave my cd case in my car anymore and it's a real pain to carry it back and forth. I also don't like to carry individual cds around nor do I have a smaller case. So what usually happens is I have a cd in the player for about 2 months, then it gets changed. Not a lot of variety.
Kinda stinks. |
